New in News... Carnival brings more flights!
|
|
|
'Antigua Carnival, the Caribbean's Greatest Summer Festival' is on from July 27 to August 8, 2023, with increased regional airlift. Caribbean Airlines now operates four flights per week from Trinidad to Antigua, up from the previous two weekly flights. New routes connecting Antigua and St. Kitts, and Antigua and Dominica have been introduced. Additionally, Winward Islands Airways International (WINAIR) has launched flights between Beef Island and Antigua, offering special introduction fares starting at US$159 for one-way travel and US$329 for round trips. These enhancements aim to attract carnival-lovers from the Caribbean to travel to Antigua for the festivities.

Keisha Schahaff, a determined individual from Antigua, and her daughter, Anastasia Mayers, will join an 80-year-old Olympian with Parkinson's as Virgin Galactic's pioneering space tourism crew. This historic journey, set to take off on August 10 from Spaceport America in New Mexico, will see the rocket plane travel more than 50 miles above Earth's surface after detaching from the "mothership" carrier at 45,000 feet. Keisha secured her place through an Omaze fundraising competition, making her dream of space exploration a reality. As the first crew from Antigua, they will redefine what it means to reach for the stars.

After 41 grueling days in what is referred to as the 'world's toughest row', the Team Antigua Island Girls covered 2,800 nautical miles to complete their quest across the Pacific Ocean in the inaugural 2023 Pacific Challenge. The team took on the challenge in an effort to raise funds to build a home for vulnerable girls in Antigua. This amazing feat makes them the first all-female, black rowing team to complete the challenge. Way to go girls!
