It's a great time for anyone to visit our little slice of paradise and even more exciting if you're interested in boating. Sailing Season is upon us and the island is buzzing with activity in anticipation of the upcoming Sailing Week events. Jolly Harbour Marina, the sailing hub of the Caribbean, is home to one of the largest and most accommodating marinas in the Caribbean - with a full-service marina and boat yard, superyacht dock, duty free fuel dock, moorings, travel lift and comprehensive security. It is also home to the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club which hosts sailing events and social events keeping the friendly yachting community busy year round.

Powerplay victorious in 2020 RORC Caribbean 600

After a nail-biting race where the lead changed at least seven times, Peter Cunnigham’s MOD70 Powerplay (CAY) emerged victorious with only a 4-minute lead over Jason Carroll’s MOD70 Argo (USA). It all came down to the final leg from Redonda to Antigua which definitely had spectators on their toes! Giovanni Soldini’s Maserati Multi70 (ITA) (photo above) who also held the leading spot for some of the race snagged the third spot.

Final Teams from Atlantic Challenge Arrive in Antigua

After a grueling 74 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes at sea, Gabi Schenkel of Switzerland arrived at Nelson's Dockyard on February 25th where she was warmly welcomed by droves of supportive spectators. She was greeted with chocolate which she requested upon arrival as well as a highly anticipated burger and fries. Gabi completed the challenge solo to bring awareness to “plastic trash is being dumped into the sea”and was able to raise funds for Swiss charity, OceanCare. The final TWAC team - Sara Brewer & Ann Prestidge of the UK- arrived on March 7th at 10:53 pm rounding off the 2019 competition.
